“The move by Malacañang to reduce to 30 days all applications for land use conversion saying this would open the floodgates for conversion of prime agricultural lands to commercial and non-agricultural uses thereby endangering our country’s food security,” ani Villarin.

“It will be a highly discretionary process that favors conversion than retention regardless if land is non-negotiable for conversion,” ani Villarin.

“In the guise of efficiency, Malacañang is sacrificing food self-sufficiency and security. It would deal a big blow to farming and agriculture which has stagnated for several years now,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.
