PINAGKAKAGASTUSAN SA ROAD USERS TAX, ISAPUBLIKO

IPINASASAPUBLIKO ni Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto ang pinaggugulan ng motor vehicle user’s chargce (MVUC) o mas kilala bilang road user’s tax sa gitna ng mga panukala na doblehin ito.

Iginiit ni Recto na dapat tiyakin din ng gobyerno na ang mas mataas na koleksyon sa Road User’s tax ay magdudulot ng mas maayos na ligtas na kalsada.

“There is also another thing that government must not forget: The duty to disclose where Motor Vehicle User Charge (MVUC) payments are spent,” saad ni Recto.

“These should be funded by what motorists pay for the privilege to drive their cars on roads. The MVUC is supposed to be plowed back to them, in terms of better and safe roads,” diin ng senador.

Iginiit pa nito na dapat ding gamitin ang koleksyon sa mga proyekto na makatitiyak ng kaligtasan ng mga pedestrian malapit sa mga paaralan.

“Through widened roads, ample sidewalks, elevated walkways, and marked pedestrian lanes, we can create a ‘kid-safe zone’ around the schools and colleges where 25 million people, or one fourth of our population, go to daily,” giit ng mambabatas.

“We need engineering interventions that will wrap a protective cocoon around where our children spend most of their day,” dagdag pa nito.

Nabatid na ang pondo mula sa MVUC na umaabot sa P57 billion ay hindi pa kasama sa panukalang national budget para sa susunod na taon.
