TINIYAK ni Senadora Risa Hontiveros na itutuloy niya ang pagsusulong ng panukalang Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression o SOGIE Equality Bill sa 19th Congress.

Ginawa ng senadora ang pahayag kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng Pride Month kung saan iginiit nitong isa itong oportunidad para maipagtanggol ang karapatan ng Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community.

“I’m ready to get back to work. We will use this 19th Congress to carve the runway to pass the SOGIE Equality Bill at long last,” pahayag ni Hontiveros.

“We will use this as a fresh opportunity to renew and prioritize our fight for all sexualities and genders,” diin pa niya.

Ayon sa senador, ang SOGIE Equality Bill o Anti-Discrimination Bill ay isang praktikal na panukala at alinsunod sa Konstitusyon.

“It ensures safe schools, accessible healthcare, and sufficient livelihood for more Filipinos. Mga buhay ang nakataya dito dahil usapang basic proteksyon ito para sa ating lahat. Yes, everyone is included in equality,” diin ni Hontiveros.

“As we face the difficulties of navigating the ruins of a post-pandemic world, this is our chance to build something good and lasting. Ito na ang pagkakataon natin gawin namang tama at patas ang mga institusyon natin,” sambit pa niya.

Inihain ni Hontiveros at ng iba pang Senador ang Sogie bill noong 18th Congress subalit hindi ito naaprubahan sa Senado.(Dang Samson-Garcia)
