IPINANUKALA ni House Committee on Health Vice Chairman Rep. Mike Defensor sa Department of Health (DOH) na gamitin ang social media sa contact tracing sa mga taong nahawa ng COVID-19.
“We should make full use of Facebook and other social media platforms. We have 75 million FB users and we are one of the most active nations in terms of social media,” ani Defensor ng Anakalusugan Party-list
“We should utilize social media in terms of reporting and contact tracing, where we have miserably failed. I have friends who tested positive for the infectious virus and none of them has been asked who they had interacted with,” dagdag nito.
Ayon sa mambabatas, bukod sa Facebook ay mayroon pang ibang social media platform ang maaaring gamitin ng DOH sa paghahanap ng mga taong nakasalamuha ng mga nagpositibo sa COVID-19.
Naniniwala si Defensor na epektibo ang social media dahil kahit ang mahihirap na komunidad ay halos lahat ay mayroong cellphone, Facebook at iba pang social media platform.
“With social media, we can determine where infected persons were in the past 14 days and who they were in close contact with,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.
Umapela rin si Defensor sa pamilya ng mga nagpositibo sa COVID-19 na huwag munang lumabas sa loob ng 14 araw upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng nasabing virus.
Kailangan aniya ang kooperasyon ng lahat para makontrol ang pagkalat ng COVID-19 dahil kung hindi ay aapaw sa mga pasyente ang mga pagamutan lalo na sa Metro Manila.
“The health system was on the brink of collapse when President Duterte heeded the call of our medical workers for a timeout to ease pressure on it and to allow them some rest. Hospitals in Metro Manila are in full capacity, and the capital has 3,000 active cases,” pahayag pa ni Defensor.
Kasabay nito, pinuri ng mambabatas ang public officials na umaming nahawa ang mga ito ng COVID-19 na nagsilbing warning sa kanilang mga nakasalamuha kaya nagpa-COVID test ang mga ito.
