KUMBINSIDO si Senate Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture Chairman Sherwin Gatchalian na sinasadya ang nakitang pagkakamali sa isang self-learning module sa Pampanga na nagtataglay ng bastos na salita.
Ipinaliwanag ni Gatchalian na may prosesong pinagdaraanan ang paggawa ng self-learning modules bago maipamahagi sa mga estudyante kaya’t nakapagtatakang lumusot ang hindi magandang salita.
“I am very dismayed, with what happened. In fact, in my opinion, sinasadya yan. It was intentional, let’s not play innocent or ignorant. Everyone knows that word, and whoever did that module knows that word. So, I’m pretty sure almost 100% na sinasadya yan, it was intentional. For whatever reason, I don’t know,” pahayag ni Gatchalian.
“But there’s a process in DepEd, this is what we call the quality assurance process. And every module, every module, every textbook, for every workbook passes through the quality assurance process. Meaning, no module will come up without quality assured. So my question now is, how this type of bad word or this module got the stamp approval of the quality assurance and were distributed to all of our students,” paliwanag ng senador.
Bukod sa sinasadya, idinagdag ni Gatchalian na nangangahulugan na bagsak ang sistemang ipinatupad sa module kaya’t kailangan itong busisiin at papanagutin ang taong gumawa nito.
“Obviously the system failed. And we also need to investigate this matter and hold the quality assurance mechanism or those people who are implementing the quality assurance to account. But more importantly, look for that person who wrote that,” diin ng mambabatas.
Tiniyak ni Gatchalian na isasama nila ang naturang isyu sa isasagawang pagdinig ng Senado kaugnay sa kahandaan ng DepEd at basic educational institutions para sa Academic Year 2021-2022.
“We need the answers because we don’t want our children, not only to learn but also, not only to learn the right things but we don’t want our children to learn all of these bad words and one of the things,” diin ng senador.
Iprinisinta sa pagdinig sa Kamara ang learning material ng DepEd mula sa Mabalacat, Pampanga na mayroong bastos na salita sa paglalarawan ng aswang.
“Aswang-siya rin ay isang diyos pero ang Aswang ay pininiwalaan na ito’y tao na kumakain ng kapwa tao, kung minsan ang mga ito ay pinapaniwalaan na may mga pakpak at sila raw ay gising kung gabi para maghanap ng makakantot or maaswang.”
Nilinaw naman ng DepEd na noon pang Pebrero ay ni-recall na ang module at nagpalabas na ng errata ang kanilang tanggapan sa Region 3. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
