SA gitna ng mga deficiencies na nakita ng Commission on Audit (COA) sa paghawak ng pondo ng Department of Health, nagtatanong si Senador Grace Poe kung dapat ay suspendido na rin si Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
Sinabi ni Poe na kung ipatutupad ang judgement na ipinatupad sa mga opisyal ng Philhealth, dapat ay nabigyan na rin ng parusa ang kalihim ng DOH.
“Shouldn’t Sec. Duque be suspended by now if you’re going to apply the same judgment as what happened to the PhilHealth executives?” saad ni Poe.
Ipinaliwanag ni Poe na alinsunod sa kautusan ni Ombudsman Samuel Martires ipinatupad ang preventive suspension laban sa walong PhilHealth executives at limang DOH officials noong isang taon dahil sa iba’t ibang paglabag na may kinalaman sa pondo.
“The fact that we can’t even go out of our homes—are we happy with what is happening? Are the medical frontliners happy with what is happening to them? Somebody must be held accountable,” diin ni Poe.
Sa 2020 Commission on Audit report, kabuuang P11.89 bilyong pondo ang nananatiling unobligated bukod pa sa P42.1 bilyon ang nailipat sa partner agencies nang walang memorandum of agreement.
“Ito po ay hindi lamang kapabayaan, ito po ay kriminal,” said giit ni Poe. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
