PBA OUTLOOK Ni EDDIE ALINEA
MATAPOS matigil ng halos isang buwan dala ng pagsasailalim sa buong Kamaynilaan sa enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), muling mapapanood ang PBA 46th Season sa unang linggo ng Setyembre.
Itutuloy ang naunsiyaming Philippine Cup sa Bacolor, Pampanga limang araw sa isang linggo, o mula Miyerkules hanggang Linggo.
Dalawang conference ang planong idaos ng liga ngayong season kaya’t dikit-dikit ang mga laro ng 12-member teams.
Bukod sa dalawa o tatlong laro kada araw, isang bagong protokol ang ipatutupad ng PBA, ayon kay Commissioner Willie Marcial.
“We will be holding either a double-header or a triple-bill – from Wednesday to Sunday, with Mondays reserved for RT-PCR tests for all members of the 12 member and other teams individuals concerned,” ani Marcial sa kolumnistang ito.
“Going with the new schedule format is the introduction of antigen testing in the morning of every game day in line with the league’s protocols to protect everyone from COVID-19. This plus the RT-PCR test every seven days,” dagdag niya.
“With this set-up and if everything works well, baka magtuloy-tuloy na ang laro and we can finish the eliminations by Sept. 19,” pagtataya ni Marcial.
“Barring untoward incidents that can further delay the schedule along the way, we expect the Philippine Cup to end by the middle of October.”
Ang Magnolia Hotshots (4-0) at TNT Tropang Giga (3-0) ang nangunguna sa team standings bago nahinto ang laro nang muling mag-ECQ sa National Capital Region at ang ilang mga probinsiya dahil sa muling pagsipa ng covid cases.
Samantala, lahat ng teams ay bumiyahe na sa Pampanga noong Lunes at nagsimula nang mag-ensayo kahapon (Martes). Ang mga itinalagang practice venues ay sa San Fernando City, Mexico at Angeles City.
Ang All-Filipino Cup ay sinimulan noong Hulyo 16 sa Ynares Sports Arena sa Pasig City bago napuwersang maghanap ng bagong lugar dala ng ECQ. Hindi nagtagal, pinayagan ni Pampanga Gov. Dennis Pineda at Don Honorio Ventura State University president Dr. Enrique G. Baking na gamitin ang gymnasium ng naturang unibersidad para sa pagpapatuloy ng 46th season ng PBA.
