CHED receives Php16.7 Million from PCSO as Mandatory Contribution

Mandaluyong City. The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is the principal government agency tasked to generate funds for health services and programs of national character through charity sweepstakes races, lotteries, and other similar activities.

In its 87 years of existence, PCSO intensifies its medical assistance program, aid to victims of natural calamities, and financial assistance to government agencies and institutions through its Mandatory Contribution Program.

PCSO’s financial assistance to Commission on Higher Education (CHED) amounting to P 16,708,672.60 is under Section 10 of Republic Act No. 7722, which mandates PCSO to allocate 1 percent of the equivalent gross sales of its lotto operations nationwide to CHED.

Aside from CHED, PCSO also give mandatory contributions to the Philippine Sports Commission Program, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Dangerous Drug Board (DDB), Integrated Shelter and Urban Development Financing Program (National Shelter Program), Shared Government Information System on Migration (SGISM), Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Fund, Crop Insurance Program, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples for the Ancestral Domain Fund, Museum Endowment Fund and 5% Lotto share to local government units.

PCSO General Manager Garma said the agency is targeting to generate more funds through PCSO gaming products, “Mga Larong May Puso”. “Our mandate is to generate funds for charity so we will focus on raising more funds. We in PCSO promised that we will remain steadfast and ensure that integrity and professionalism will be our core values in extending assistance to our fellow Filipinos.”
