BINIGYANG-DIIN ni Senator Alan Peter Cayetano nitong Huwebes ang kahalagahan ng due process, kahit sa kaso ni dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Aniya, dapat itong ipatupad sa lahat, maging ordinaryong mamamayan o opisyal ng gobyerno.

“Basically there’s so much confusion. We’re trying to get to the [bottom of the] confusion to make sure we respect our constitution and everyone’s right is protected. Even if a person, a private citizen or government [personnel] is accused, the duty of the constitution [is] that everyone should be given due process… I’m just making the point that even if you serve the warrant, kung hindi niya alam at hindi alam ng lawyer niya, how do you expect him to run to court to get the legal remedy?” wika ni Cayetano sa pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs nitong March 20 kaugnay ng isyu ng pag-aresto kay Duterte.

Layunin ng pagdinig na linawin ang papel ng International Criminal Court (ICC), International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), at iba’t ibang ahensya ng gobyerno sa usapin ng pag-aresto kay dating pangulong Duterte.
