IGINIIT ni Senador Imee Marcos sa pamahalaan na agad na layasan at putulin na ang ugnayan sa bansang Iceland kaugnay ng inilabas na resolusyon ng United Nation Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

Ayon kay Marcos dapat nang putulin ng pamahalaan ang diplomatic ties sa nasabing bansa dahil sa panghihimasok nito sa pamahalaan.

“A strong statement is in order that the values and political agenda of other countries, many of them developed countries like Iceland, cannot be imposed on an independent country like the Philippines,” ani Marcos sa pagsasabing malinaw na wala sa kalahati ng miyembro ng UNHRC ang bumoto sa resolusyon nito.

Paliwanag pa ni Marcos na sa 47 miyembro ng UNHRC, 18 lamang ang pumabor sa resolusyon samantalang 14 naman ang tumutol at 15 ang nag-abstain.

“They point a finger at the Philippines for alleged human rights violations, yet they justify the killing of defenseless, unborn children,” paliwanag pa ni Marcos.

“Other countries cannot presume to know better how we should enforce our own drug laws. Due process may seem slow in investigating alleged human rights violations, but the rule of law prevails and has not been set aside,” dagdag pa nito.
