INIHAYAG ng Malacanang ang suspensiyon ng trabaho sa gobyerno maging sa pampublikong eskuwelahan at unibersidad at iba pang ahensiya sa executive branch sa January 2, 2019.

Sa Memorandum Circular No. 54 na nilagdaan ni Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, sinabi na ang trabaho sa government offices sa buong bansa kabilang ang government-owned or -controlled corporations, government financial institutions, state universities and colleges, local government units, and other agencies and instrumentalities, ay suspendido sa Enero 2, 2019.

Ito ay upang mabigyan ng oportunidad ang mga government employees na magdiwang ng Bagong Taon, Enero 1 na pumatak sa araw ng Martes.

“However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disaster s and calamities, and/or performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” ayon sa memorandum.
