TIWALA ang ilang senador sa pahayag ng mga opisyales ng Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) na matutupad ang pangako nitong agad na maibabalik ang normal na operasyon ng LRT-2.

Sinabi ni Senador Grace Poe, chairman ng Senate Committee on Public Services na nagsasagawa na ng masusing pagsisiyasat ang LRTA sa rehabilitasyon ng nasirang bahagi ng rectifiers na nagsu-supply ng power sa Anonas-Katipunan stations.

Mismong si Dr. Paul Chua, LRTA deputy for operation and engineering, ang nagsabi sa mga senador na hindi aabot ng siyam na buwan ang gagawing pagsasaayos sa tatlong substations na nasira sa sunog.

“What we hope to accomplish in this meeting is to give the affected commuters a glimmer of hope. As such, we would like to see less fingerpointing and more problem solving. Of course, we can only apply the solutions if we make a proper diagnosis,” ani Poe sa ikaapat na pagpupulong ng technical working group (TWG).

Sinabi ni Chua na pinal nang nagpalabas ng desisyon ang Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) na pinapayagan ang LRTA na buksan ang rectifiers para sa aktuwal na assessment sa nasira.

“Since we were just allowed yesterday afternoon to open the rectifiers for actual assessment of the damage, we can only build the actual damage scenario probably in two days’ time,” sabi ni Chua.

Nabatid na natukoy na ng LRTA ang 189 bahagi ng substations na depektibo o nasira ng sunog kung saan 178 nito ay napalitan na.

“We will keep a close watch on the LRT’s rehabilitation, and beyond this, we will expect a more comprehensive plan on how to improve service and expand capacity. Our train riders deserve better,” sabi naman ni Poe.
