PINAG-AARALAN ng Senate Committe on Finance ang posibilidad na dagdagan ang calamity fund ng pamahalaan para sa susunod na taon kasunod na rin ng pinsalang idinulot ng pananalasa ng mga bagyo.

Ayon kay Finance Committee chairman Senador Sonny Angara, naghahanap na sila ng mga posibleng source na pagkukunan ng dagdag na pondo.

“We are currently studying the possibility of supplementing the calamity funds for 2021. We are looking for fund sources for realignment at the moment,” saad ni Angara.

Sa ilalim ng National Expenditure Program (NEP) para sa 2021, P20 billion ang nakalaan para sa Calamity Fund sa ilalim ng National Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Iginiit naman ni Senador Leila de Lima na dapat mabigyan ng importansya ang calamity fund.

“Ang Calamity Fund o Disaster Response Fund, for both the national and local governments, and more so, the LGUs, ang dapat tinitiyak na malaki at sapat. Ganun din ang budget para sa DSWD at DOH. Not the President’s intelligence and confidential funds. Not the anti-insurgency fund,” pahayag ni de Lima.

Kung si Senador Panfilo Lacson naman ang tatanungin, mas nanaisin nitong ilagay sa Assistance to Local Government Units at Local Government Support Fund ang dagdag na pondo sa halip na sa NDRRMC.

“Instead of increasing the NDRRMF, I intend to realign to ALGU and LGSF. Will ask DILG to submit the list of LGU beneficiaries, giving priority to those hit by Rolly, especially those with low local revenues or 4th or 6th class,” pahayag ni Lacson. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
