WOW. Patuloy ang paghakot ng awards ng South Korean black comedy na Parasite ni Bong Joon-ho. Ang pinaka-latest ay ang best feature film award nito mula sa glamorosong 2019 Asia Pacific Screen Awards na ginanap sa Brisbane, Australia noong Huwebes.

Marami nang nakuhang awards ang pelikulang ito (kasama na ang Palme d’Or sa Cannes) at mukhang hahakot din ito ng awards – or nominations, at least – sa Oscars sa Pebrero 2020.

Pero heto ang mas wow: Our very own Max Eigenmann ay nagwagi bilang Best Actress para sa pelikulang Verdict ng 26-year-old director na si Raymund Ribay Gutierrez.

Sa pelikula, biktima ng domestic violence si Joy Santos (Max) na naghahanap ng hustisya sa bulok na burokrasya. Kwento ni Max tungkol dito: ““It is very, very common but not a lot of people speak about it. That is the basis of this film.”

“He (Direk Raymund) wanted this film to be the voice of all women. It is such an honor for me to be that voice.”

Kuwento pa niya, “I did take home a little bit of this character. I was kind of depressed the entire time I was shooting the movie. It makes you feel shitty. It was so physically exhausting and emotionally draining.”

Nang matapos daw ang pelikula, umiyak siya habang pinapanood ito for the first time.

Nanalo rin ang Verdict ng special jury prize sa 2019 Venice film festival.

Sa kanyang pagtanggap ng award noong Huwebes, sinabi ni Max na, “Receiving this is beyond anything that I ever expected or imagined… This is for you Philippines!”

DAMASO AT ADAN, NANIGAS SA FROZEN 2

As expected, pumatok sa takilya ang sequel ng Frozen nang mag-open ito sa Pilipinas noong Miyerkoles, November 20, six years after the original animated blockbuster swept the world and fans just can’t let go! Sa pelikula, 21 na si Anna at 24 naman si Elsa. May mga bago ring characters sa sequel na ito.

Pero kung sinuwerte ang sequel na ito, nilampaso niya naman ang mga local movies na kasabay niyang nag-open: ang musical na Damaso, at ang erotic psychological thriller na Adan.

Kaya naman nakiusap si Arnell Ignacio, ang gumanap sa title character ng Damaso, sa mga theater owners na huwag munang i-pull out sa mga sinehan ang kanilang pelikula.

Sana nga’y pakinggan ang hiling niya dahil maganda naman daw ang pelikula nila (kung saan walang peluka si Arnell), sabi ng mga kaibigang nakapanood na.
