NAGPAHAYAG ng kahandaan ang Armed Forces of the Philippines na ayudahan ang Department of Public Works and Highways sa paghahanap at pagsusuri sa mahigit isang libong flood control projects kung saan ilan rito ay sinasabing ghost projects.
Ayon kay AFP Spokesperson Col. Francel Margaret Padilla, sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Corps of Engineers at koordinasyon sa iba pang units ay nakahanda silang sumuporta sa DPWH kung sila ay naatasan.
“Should our assistance be officially requested, the AFP can complement DPWH efforts by helping conduct site inspections, providing security, and ensuring transparency,” ani Col. Padilla.
Sinabi pa ng tagapagsalita na sa loob ng maraming taon, ang hukbong sandatahan ay naging kabalikat sa national development at disaster response, ‘working closely with government agencies and stakeholders’.
“This is in line with our broader mission of defense and nation-building, where safeguarding the integrity of vital infrastructure contributes to the welfare and protection of our people,” ani Padilla.
Kamakailan, inihayag ni DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon na hiniling na niya ang tulong ng Philippine National Police (PNP) at Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) para suriin ang mga umano’y maanomalyang flood control projects sa buong bansa.
“Libo-libo po talaga ang proyekto ng DPWH. At kung sa loob ng DPWH, hindi natin kakayanin ‘yan, ‘kaya kailangan talaga, unang-una, humingi tayo ng tulong sa PNP, sa AFP,” ani Dizon.
