KINUMPIRMA ni Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero na nagsasagawa na sila ng imbentaryo sa mga nasabat nilang gadgets tulad ng cellphones at laptop upang mai-donate sa Department of Education (DepEd).

“Right now, we are just processing the deeds of donation so that these can be donated to the proper agency, of course subject to clearances provided by the regulatory agencies that cover these gadgets,” saad ni Guerrero sa budget hearing sa Senado.

Sinabi ng opisyal na bukod sa mga gadgets, plano rin nila na magbigay ng iba pang school supplies sa DepEd bilang tugon na rin sa atas ni Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III na suriin ang mga kargamentong maaring itulong sa distance learning.

“We have instructions from no less than the Secretary to conduct an inventory of all these items that need to be disposed, and those that can be donated are being donated,” dagdag ng opisyal.
Una nang hinikayat ni Senadora Imee Marcos ang BOC na i-donate na lamang para sa blended learning ang mga nakumpiskang smuggled cellphone, tablets at laptops.

Sa impormasyon ng mambabatas, halos 29.5 tons ng mga cellphone, storage devices at electrical items ang nakumpiska ng BOC noong Agosto dahil sa kawalan ng clearance mula sa Bureau of Product Standards, National Telecommunications Commission at Optical Media Board. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
