IPINAG-UTOS ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte sa mga miyembro ng executive department na dedmahin ang pagpapatawag ni Senator Richard Gordon para sa Senate investigation hinggil sa government contracts para sa diumano’y overpriced COVID-19 supplies.
Sa kanyang Talk to the People, Huwebes ng gabi, nagbigay ng reaksyon si Pangulong Duterte sa pahayag ni Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Gordon na patuloy silang mag-iimbestiga “until kingdom come,” inilarawan ng pangulo ang mga salitang ito bilang undemocratic.
“Ngayon, kailan ito matapos? Till kingdom come? Who are you to say that? Sabi ko that is a very undemocratic statement and you want Filipino nation pati kami dito sa executive department, damayan mo?” ayon sa pangulo.
“Well, I’m telling you now, I have ordered Secretary [Salvador] Medialdea (Executive Secretary) to prepare the… I’ll issue a memorandum na lahat ng sa executive department will no longer obey your summons kasi kingdom come ka,” dagdag na pahayag ng chief executive.
Giit ng pangulo, tila lumalagpas na si Gordon sa kanyang hurisdiksyon at ang ginagawa ay malinaw na isang “abuse of discretion.”
“Playing God” din aniya ang senador para utusan ang mga miyembro ng kanyang gabinete na dumalo sa imbestigasyon habang may pandemya.
“Ako you know pull back [Health Chief Secretary Francisco] Duque and Secretary [Carlito] Galvez, mag-focus sila. Redirect your attention to our problem of pandemic. Never mind Gordon, he is nothing,” ayon sa punong ehekutibo.
“Huwag na kayo sumunod kay Gordon because he is treading on dangerous grounds,” diing pahayag nito.
Nagbigay rin ng kahalintulad na kautusan ang chief executive sa military at pulis.
“Ngayon, we will order the police and the military to help the sheriff. As commander-in-chief of all uniformed personnel of the government, I am ordering the police and military to stay out of this trouble. Huwag kayong sumali. Huwag kayong sumunod kasi may crisis na tayo,” aniya. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
