NAGKALOOB ang pamahalaang lungsod ng Navotas ng libreng cervical cancer screening at chest x-ray bilang tulong laban sa tuberculosis (TB) noong Martes, Mayo 17.

May inisyal na 220 Navoteña na edad 21 pataas ang sumailalim sa visual inspection of cervix with acetic acid (VIA) screening test na isinagawa sa lahat ng health centers sa lungsod.

“Due to the pandemic, our centers temporarily stopped providing VIA tests every Tuesday. We have resumed this service in line with the celebration of the Cervical Cancer Consciousness Month and now that our COVID cases are low,” ani Mayor Toby Tiangco.

Simula Mayo 17, lahat ng 11 health centers ay tatanggap ng pasyenteng Navoteño kada Martes, 1-3 p.m. para sa libreng cervical cancer screening.

Naghandog din ang pamahalaang lungsod, sa pakikiisa ng Philippine Business for Social Progress at Department of Health (DOH), ng libreng chest x-ray upang paigtingin ang active case-finding (ACF) ng TB sa komunidad.

Para sa nasabing serbisyo, ang mga pasyente ay dapat na  15-anyos pataas at dapat na magrehistro sa kanilang barangay. ‘First come, first served’ ang gagawing pagtingin sa mga pasyente.

“Early detection serves a vital role in the effective treatment of a disease. We hope that by providing these services for free, Navoteños will be encouraged to get themselves tested and treated, if needed,”  ani Tiangco.

Noong 2019, nakamit ng Navotas ang ‘Best in Tuberculosis Control Program’ award mula sa DOH-National Capital Region.

Bukod sa libreng check-ups at gamot, nagbibigay ang lungsod ng P3,000 livelihood assistance sa TB patients na nakakumpleto ng anim hanggang walong buwang gamutan. (ALAIN AJERO)
