MAGHO-HOST ang Pilipinas ng International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC) sa 2023.

Inanunsyo ito ng ICIC Secretariat sa isinagawang closing ceremony ng Conference sa isang closed-door session na pinamunuan ng Commissioners of Mexico’s National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information, and Data Protection (INAI).

“The Evaluation Committee reviewed the submitted applications, considered aspects ranging from the experience and capacity of the applicant authority in organizing international events, as well as the proposed venue, accommodation, and financing options,” ayon kay INAI Commissioner Adrián Alcalá.

Ang Philippine delegation, sa pangunguna ni Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Undersecretary and FOI Program Director Kristian Ablan, ang siyang tumanggap ng conferment.

Ang FOI Project Management Office ng PCOO ang nanguna sa pagpapatupad ng FOI Program simula 2016, at nagsagawa ng “considerable efforts” sa pagsusulong ng mataas na access sa impormasyon sa bansa.

Samantala, ang Pilipinas ang unang Southeast Asian country na magho-host ng Conference, sumunod sa Mexico (2005 at 2022), South Africa (2004 at 2019), United Kingdom (2017 at 2006), Chile (2015), Germany (2013 at 2003), Canada (2011), Norway (2009), at New Zealand (2007). (CHRISTIAN DALE)
