LALONG sasakit ang ulo ni Philippine Charity Sweepstake Office (PCSO) General Manager Melquiades Robles dahil mag-iimbestiga ang Kongreso sa e-lotto contract na pinasok nito sa Pacific Online Corporation.

Ayon kay Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, nakarating sa kanyang kaalaman na ang kontratang pinasok ng PCSO sa pamamagitan ni Robles sa nasabing e-lotto operator ay hindi inaprubahan ng Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC) dahil hindi pabor sa gobyerno.

Gayunpaman, itinuloy ni Robles ang kontrata na naging kontrobersyal matapos ihayag ng PCSO na ang nag-iisang nanalo sa P640 million na jackpot sa 6/49 lotto draw noong Enero 16, 2024 ay tumaya sa e-lotto.

“It is now becoming clear that even without the approval by the OGCC, Robles proceeded with the implementation of the contract. I hope he has a valid reason for doing so despite the findings by the OGCC that such contract is disadvantageous to the government, therefore violative of the Graft and Corrupt Practices Act,” ani Barbers.

Tiniyak din ni Barbers na mangangalap sila ng ebidensya para sampahan ng kaso ang PCSO chief.

“With this alone, Robles has put the PCSO in a bind and exposes it to lawsuits. Instead of heeding the OGCC call, he threw all cautions to the wind and wantonly implemented the contract”, dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

Unang tinutulan sa Kamara ang nasabing kontrata dahil mawawalan umano ng trabaho ang libu-libong empleyado ng mga lotto outlet na ang karamihan ay pag-aari ng senior citizens at maliliit na negosyante.
