Mula 5pm-9pm NUMBER CODING SA NCR EPEKTIBO NA

EPEKTIBO na simula ngayong Miyerkoles ang Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) o ang number coding scheme sa rush hour mula alas-5:00 ng hapon hanggang alas-9:00 ng gabi mula Lunes hanggang Biyernes maliban kung piyesta opisyal, ayon sa Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Sa kanyang press conference kahapon sa MMDA Headquarters sa Brgy. Guadalupe, Makati City, sinabi ni MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos na tanging mga pribadong behikulo sa buong Metro Manila ang sakop ng pagpapatupad ng number coding scheme sa loob ng apat na oras, at tatagal ng tatlong linggo.

Exempted naman sa modified UVVRP ang public utility vehicles (kabilang ang tricycles), transport network vehicle services (TNVS), motorcycles, garbage trucks, fuel trucks, motor vehicles na nagdadala o naghahatid ng essential o perishable goods.

“Data shows that the travel speed along the northbound portion of EDSA is 9.66 kilometers per hour. Hence, we have to reinstate the number coding scheme during the afternoon rush hours to address the problem. We are trying to exhaust all options here,” sabi ni Chairman Abalos.

Sinabi pa ni Abalos, ang ban sa light trucks sa EDSA ay muling ipatutupad nang may modification.

Base sa UVVRP motor vehicle plate endings, bawal ang light trucks na bumiyahe ng EDSA sa pagitan ng Magallanes, Makati City at North Avenue, Quezon City, northbound at southbound, mula ng 5:00 a.m. hanggang 9:00 p.m. mula Lunes hanggang Biyernes.

Ang total truck ban policy sa EDSA sa pagitan ng Magallanes, Makati City at North Avenue, Quezon City, northbound at southbound, ay mananatili, at mahigpit ang pagpapatupad maliban sa mga truck ng basura, fuel trucks, at truck na may mga kargang essential o perishable goods.

Tumutukoy sa “truck” ang motor vehicle na may gross capacity weight na higit sa 4,500 kilogram, gamit man sa komersyal o hindi at may gulong na hindi kukulangin sa anim.

Ayon naman kay Director Neomie Recio, MMDA Traffic Discipline Office director, tinatayang nasa 2,700 sasakyan ang mababawas kada oras sa pagbyahe pa lamang sa EDSA. (DAVE MEDINA)
