“FULFILL your campaign promise”.

Ito ang panawagan ni House deputy minority leader France Castro kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. kaugnay ng problema sa kuryente sa Occidental Mindoro.

Ayon sa ulat, nagbabanta na ang kaguluhan sa nasabing lalawigan dahil sa hanggang 20 oras na power outage kada araw. Isinailalim na ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan ang buong probinsya sa state of calamity.

Noong 2022 presidential campaign, personal na pinangakuan umano ni Marcos ang nasabing lalawigan na aayusin niya ang problema sa kanilang kuryente subalit mas lumala ang sitwasyon ng mga ito dahil hanggang 20 oras kada araw na silang walang kuryente.

Dahil dito, sinabi ni Castro na nararapat lamang tuparin ng Pangulo ang kanyang campaign promises. Inilatag din ng mambabatas ang apat na solusyon aniya para maresolba ang power crisis sa nasabing lalawigan.

“First the Marcos administration needs to urgently update the fuel subsidies to quickly solve the brownouts; ayon sa mambabatas dahil lumalabas na hindi binayaran ng National Power Corporation ang kanilang subsidy kaya isang planta na lamang ang gumagana.

“Provide clear and timely direction on power development and the holding of competitive selection process; Reduce increasing cost of missionary subsidy by relying less on ever-expensive and polluting diesel fuel for off-grid generation. Seriously and consistently launch a hybridization program of off-grid areas by introduction of cheaper and cleaner renewable energy (RE) generation like solar, biomass, mini hydro and others; at ikaapat ay “Launch an energy efficiency and saving program in off grid areas to reduce power consumption in their homes”.

Kailangang iutos na rin aniya ng Pangulo ang pag-amyenda sa Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) dahil ang nasabing batas ang nagpamahal sa kuryente.

“Government must again own and operate power plants to lower its rates but we must be very wary on nuclear power whether it be a full nuclear power plant or modular. It can be studied of course but we and our country should not be used as guinea pigs for its testing,” ayon pa kay Castro.

Sa isang panayam sa radyo kahapon, nagpahayag ng pangamba ang pinuno ng MDRRMO sa Occ Mindoro na posibleng mauwi sa civil disobedience ang kawalan ng kuryente sa lalawigan.
