TODO ang suporta ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa reactivation ng PNP Media Security Vanguards, isang pagsisikap ng pamahalaan para matiyak ang kaligtasan at seguridad ng mga kasapi ng media lalo na ngayong papalapit na May 2025 midterm elections.

“As vital players in shaping the nation’s future, they [media] help the public make informed decisions by fact-checking, influencing public opinion, and holding politicians and candidates accountable. However, this critical role also exposes them to significant risks that could endanger their lives,” pahayag ni DILG Undersecretary Rolando Puno.

Si USec. Puno ay siyang kumatawan kay Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla sa ginanap na launching and reactivation ng Philippine National Police (PNP) Media Security Vanguards sa Quezon City na pinangunahan mismo ni Presidential Communications Office Secretary Jay Ruiz at Presidential Task Force on Media Security Executive Director, USec. Jose Torres.

Ayon kay USec. Puno, kailangang itaas ng gobyerno ang “awareness” hinggil sa media security at safety protocols, habang pinalalakas ang kolaborasyon sa pagitan ng media at mga alagad ng batas para matiyak ang mabilis na pagtugon sa mga banta laban sa mga mamamahayag.

“Through the Media Security Vanguards, we aim to empower journalists to do their work without fear of censorship, intimidation, or compromising their safety and integrity,” ayon pa sa opisyal.

Sa muling paglulunsad ng Media Security Vanguard, ang PNP-Public Information Office ay magdedeploy ng mga police personnel na naatasang makipag-ugnayan sa PTFoMS Special Agents para pabilisin ang imbestigasyon at resolbahin ang mga banta o karahasan laban sa media professionals.

“We trust that the PNP Media Vanguards will continue their vital role as frontline defenders of journalists, strengthening efforts to ensure their safety and prevent impunity by implementing proactive security measures,” ani Puno.

Pinayuhan din ng DILG at maging ng PCO, ang mga kasapi ng media na tuloy-tuloy lang na gampanan ang paglalatag at pagpapahayag ng katotohanan at isumbong ang anomang banta o security concerns sa Vanguards.
