CASH AID, CONTACT TRACING ‘DI PINONDOHAN

PINALAGAN ni Senador Nancy Binay ang hindi paglalaan ng badyet ng pamahalaan sa cash aid para sa apektadong sektor at contact tracing sa panukalang P5.024 trilyong 2022 national budget.

“Ang mindset when the budget was made, there would still be COVID next year. Bakit walang nagtanong sa DILG? Bakit walang budget for contact tracing?” tanong ni Binay.

Sa ginanap na pagdinig ng Senate committee on finance sa pamumuno ni Senador Edgardo Angara, sinabi ni Binay na dapat nakapokus ang Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa contact tracing bilang epektibong pamamaraan na mapigilan ang pagkakalat ng COVID-19 virus.

“We understand the challenges, but there’s a mounting necessity to scale up our contact tracing capacities. Napaka-crucial ng contact tracing is especially as infections of new Covid variants keep rising. Yung 2022 budget mismo hindi compliant sa COVID response,” aniya.

Ayon kay Binay, matagal nang public concern ang COVID at kritikal na sandata ang contact tracing upang makontrol ang pagkalat ng community infections. (ESTONG REYES)
