NANGAKO ang Department of Education (DepEd) na muli nitong bubusisiin ang kanilang panuntunan, pagdating sa procurement ng mga school materials.

Ito ay kasunod na rin ng pagbubunyag ng Commission on Audit (COA) sa kanilang report, na aabot sa mahigit P136 milyong halaga ng mga instructional materials ang nasasayang, nakaimbak at hindi nagagamit sa warehouses.

Sinasabing ito ay buffer stock para sa taong 2014-2017.

Sinabi sa report na sa 4 milyong textbooks at teacher manuals, nakapagpamigay lang ang DepEd ng 652, 842 na kopya.

Nahati ito sa 230, 086 noong 2016; 321, 103 noong 2017; at 101,653 noong 2018.

Ang natitirang 3,410,137 ay nasa warehouse pa rin sa Taguig City.

“The DepEd management assured that they will revist the existing DepEd guidelines on the procurement of instructional materials and will evaluate the control on buffer stocks,” pahayag ng ahensya na ipinadala sa media.

“Regarding the large number of learning materials procured, they already allocated materials and there is already an approved Activity Request and is in the process of releasing the buffer materials to the lower units,” pagtatapos nito.
