NAKAPAGTALA ng mahigit isang milyong international travelers na dumating sa Pilipinas sa unang tatlong buwan ng 2023.
Sinabi ni Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Frasco na nakikita na niya ang pagbangon ng tourism sector dahil may 1,152,590 international tourists ang bumita sa bansa “as of March 15, 2023.”
“In less than three months, we have logged more than a million visitors into the Philippines,” ani Frasco sa kanyang talumpati sa National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023-2028 Tourism Stakeholders’ National Summit sa Maynila.
“The country is well on its way to tourism recovery. These figures build our confidence that we will, again, exceed our targets this year that we set at 4.8 million international arrivals and we fully foresee the full recovery of domestic recovery this year,” dagdag na wika ni Frasco.
Sinabi pa ng Kalihim na magsisilbi ito bilang blueprint para sa estratehiya sa kung paano balak ituloy at palaguin ng DOT ang epekto ng turismo sa ekonomiya sa susunod na mga taon.
Magsisilbi rin aniya itong “guidebook” ng industriya.
Sa ilalim ng NTDP, binalangkas ng DOT ang 7 layunin para sa susunod na limang taon para pagbutihin ang sektor.
Kabilang na rito ang “improvement of tourism infrastructure and accessibility; cohesive and comprehensive digitalization and connectivity; at enhancement of the overall tourist experience.”
Binanggit din ng Kalihim ang ilang hakbang na tinitingnan ng DOT para ipatupad gaya ng paglulunsad ng “tourist lifecycle” mobile application na makapagbibigay ng impormasyon ukol sa destinasyon sa bansa.
Plano rin ng DOT na magtatag ng tourist assistance call center at magsanay ng 100,000 Filipino tourism workers. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
