IIMBESTIGAHAN ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang report ukol sa ilegal at labag sa batas na aktibidad ng mga diplomat.

Sa isang kalatas, sinabi ng DFA na habang ang mga foreign diplomat na accredited sa Pilipinas ay pinagkalooban ng mga kinakailangang kalayaan para maisagawa ang kanilang tungkulin, ang mga ito ay “expected to conduct their diplomatic activities with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, in pursuit of common interests and mutually beneficial outcomes.”

Kasunod ito ng hamon ni Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro sa DFA na imbestigahan ang sinasabing telephone recording sa pagitan ng Chinese Diplomat at ng Western Command Chief na aniya’y paglabag sa batas ng Pilipinas.

Tiniyak din ng DFA ang kanilang kaukulang aksyon hinggil dito alinsunod sa umiiral na batas at regulasyon ng Pilipinas.

“It is in this context that the Philippines — as a responsible member of the international community of nations — has consistently called for adherence to international law, including the United Nations Charter, the Vienna Conventions governing inter-state relations, and in the maritime domain the 1982 UNCLOS [United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea], among others,” ayon sa DFA.
