INAPRUBAHAN ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) na mapasama sa clinical trials ang mga taong nabibilang sa ibang age groups at may comorbidities.
“Meanwhile, the IATF, subject to the considerations of the Food and Drug Administration, approved the recommendation for sponsors/trialists to shift their focus towards people of different age groups and people with comorbidities, or the immunocompromised, to be more inclusive in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic,” ayon kay Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
Inaprubahan din ng IATF ang rekomendasyon na iprayoridad ang Phase 3 clinical trials na magsasama sa mga volunteer mula sa pediatric age groups (anim na buwan -12 taon), matatanda (mahigit 60 taon), pregnant mothers, pasyenteng may immunodeficiency, pasyenteng may autoimmune diseases, pasyenteng may renal diseases at pasyenteng may chronic respiratory diseases.
Gayundin ang rekomendasyon na ikonsidera ang aplikasyon para sa pagsasagawa ng bagong clinical trials sa general health population kahit pa ang bakuna ay makatutugon sa epekto ng bagong variants “such as when the vaccine is a third dose of a vaccine with Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) in the country, or second generation COVID-19 vaccines under EUA.”
Matatandaang noong Hunyo, sinabi ng Department of Health (DOH) na bukas ito sa posibilidad ng clinical trial sa COVID-19 vaccines sa mga kabataang Filipino.
Sa katunayan ani Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire ay nakipag-usap na sila sa Department of Science and Technology at iba pang eksperto para talakayin ang posibleng vaccine trials para sa mga bata. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
