ISINUSULONG ni Senador Lito Lapid ang pagrebisa sa quarantine system ng gobyerno upang mas maging maayos at epektibo laban sa mga outbreak at epidemics.
Sa kanyang Senate Bill No. 2508 o proposed Philippine Quarantine Authority (PQA) Act, iginiit ni Lapid ang pangangailangan ding isaayos at palagiang ihanda ang public health infrastructure.
Ito anya sa pamamagitan ng pagtukoy sa Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) bilang Philippine Quarantine Authority at ibalik ang military ranks sa mga opisyal nito upang palakasin ang kanilang awtoridad.
“By returning military ranks to quarantine officials, the PQA will be empowered to act swiftly and decisively, ensuring the immediate implementation of quarantine measures and the enforcement of public health protocols,” pahayag ni Lapid sa kanyang explanatory note.
“By learning from the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, this bill seeks to equip the country with the necessary tools and authority to effectively manage outbreaks and epidemics, protecting the health and well-being of our citizens,” dagdag ng senador.
Ang pagbuo sa PQA ay maitutugma na rin sa Philippine Center for Disease Control and Prevention Act na nakatutok naman sa research activities.
Ang PQA naman ay siyang magiging regulatory at implementing agency na responsable sa pagpapatupad ng mga regulasyon.
