TINATAYANG aabot sa P15.8 bilyong halaga ng counterfeit Guess products at iba pang brand at fake signature products, ang nasamsam ng mga operatiba ng Bureau of Customs kasama ang mga tauhan ng Guess, sa isang kilalang clothing at accessories company.

Sa utos ni President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na wakasan na ang illegal trade at protektahan ang ang Filipino consumers, sinalakay ng Bureau of Customs (BOC), katuwang ang global brand Guess, ang ilang bodega sa Divisoria at dito nadiskubre ang 1.727 milyong piraso ng counterfeit products na nagkakahalaga ng P15.8 bilyon.

Kabilang sa mahigit 1.7 milyong piraso ng pekeng produkto na mga gamit na may tatak na Guess, Michael Kors, Coach, Louis Vuitton, at Tory Burch, ang nasamsam ng BOC-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service – Intellectual Property Rights Division (CIIS-IPRD), RD, katuwang ang Guess Philippines.

Ayon kay Atty. Kristian Nico Acosta, legal head Guess Group sa Pilipinas, lumakas ang operasyon ng BOC sa ilalim ni Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, dahil sa paggamit ng teknolohiya at mas pinadali ang proseso ng pagpapanagot sa mga sangkot.

Binalaan din ang publiko sa panganib ng paggamit ng pekeng produkto at ang epekto nito sa mga lehitimong negosyo.

Patuloy umanong magsasagawa ng operasyon ang BOC laban sa pekeng kalakal.

Ayon kay Atty. Acosta, “I’ve been doing enforcement, especially with the Bureau of Customs, for more than a decade, and under the leadership of Commissioner Rubio, we saw dynamic developments, which involve the utilization of technological tools in pinpointing and tracking counterfeiters, in collaborating with brand owners, and most importantly, a simplified process in prosecuting counterfeiters and illegal importers of counterfeit goods.”

“We are serious about our mission to keep counterfeit goods out of the country. This is about protecting the public, supporting legitimate businesses, and ensuring a level playing field in the market,” pahayag naman ni BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio.
