MAGLALAGAY pa ng mas maraming mobile checkpoint ang Joint Task Force COVID Shield bukod sa pagpapaigting ng beat patrols sa mga lugar na inilagay sa ilalim ng general community quarantine (GCQ) para matiyak na susunod pa rin ang taumbayan sa mga itinakdang alintuntunin para maiwasan ang muling pagkalat ng coronavirus sa kanilang lugar.

Ayon kay Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, commander ng JTF COVID Shield, ipinag-utos ni Chief PNP General Archie Gamboa na lumikha ng mas mahigpit na security guidelines na susundin ng kapulisan sa GCQ areas at ilalim ng new normal situation sa gitna ng banta ng coronaVirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Inihayag pa ni PLt. Gen. Eleazar na inaasahan na nila ang pagkakaroon ng mga bottleneck at traffic jam sa mga checkpoint dahil sa pagdagsa ng mga Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) na inaasahang lulobo dahil sa pagpapairal ng GCQ.

“We cannot just rely on strict QCP operations to check on the presence of the Unauthorized Persons Outside Residence (UPOR) particularly in GCQ areas since it could create monstrous traffic congestion which will defeat the purpose of partially reopening the economy,” ani PLt.Gen. Eleazar.

“QCPs, based on what would happen on the ground, can adjust accordingly. Staggered or random checking could be tried to minimize traffic congestion and public inconvenience,” dagdag pa ng heneral.

Bunsod umano ito na paglaki ng volume ng mga sasakyan at mga tao sa lansangan na nasa GCQ areas na masasabing mas maluwag kumpara sa enhanced community quarantine dahil hahayaan na rin ang ilang business establishments na mag-operate under GCQ.

Inihayag pa ng heneral na pakay ng mobile checkpoints sa private vehicles ang physical distancing at pagrekisa sa mga UPOR.

Para sa mga public utility vehicle na hahayaan bumiyahe sa GCQ areas, Sinabi ni Eleazar na kanilang susuriin kung nasusunod ang rule of physical distancing at pagsusuot ng face masks sa lahat ng oras.

“Aside from random mobile checkpoints, we will also deploy more motorcycle-riding personnel of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) to run after motorists violating the rules and serve as augmentation force for those who would try to avoid mobile checkpoints,” ani PLt. Gen. Eleazar.

Ang JTF COVID Shield ay siyang enforcement arm ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) na binubuo ng Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) na siyang naatasang magpatupad ng mga alintuntunin ng pamahalaan konta COVID-19 disease.
