KUKUNIN ni Marinduque Rep. Lord Alan Jay Velasco ang Speakership ng Kamara ngayong darating na Oktubre 1.

Ito ay base sa pahayag ng mambabatas na hindi niya isinusuko ang posisyon kay Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano at nais niyang mailuklok bilang Speaker sa Oktubre 1, base sa kanilang term-sharing agreement.

Si Cayetano ay nagsimulang manungkulan bilang Speaker noong Hulyo 27, 2019 kaya matatapos ang kanyang termino sa Oktubre 27, 2020 subalit iginiit ni Velasco na hanggang Setyembre 30 lamang ito.

“The covenant was a crystal clear: a 15-21 term-sharing agreement. The first term expires on Sept. 30 (2020), after which the second term immediately begins.

That was the pledge made before the president,” ani Velasco sa kanyang IG post.

Pinanindigan din ng Marinduque solon na nabuo ang kasunduan base sa “mutual trust and confidence” kaya dapat anya itong masunod dahil nasusukat ang isang maayos na lider na may palabra de honor.

“As true leaders and as examples for our people, both sides are obligated to avoid situations or statements that would subvert the agreement and betray the trust of our people who’ve stood witness to the covenant,” ang tila pasaring pa ng mambabatas.

Ginawa ni Velasco ang IG post sa gitna ng manifesto ng may 202 congressmen mula sa majority bloc na kanyang kinabibilangan at 16 mula sa minority bloc na isantabi na ang term-sharing agreement upang hindi na magkaroon ng rigodon sa Kongreso lalo na’t nasa gitna ng deliberasyon sa pambansang pondo at mga panukalang batas na kailangan para labanan ang pandemya sa COVID-19.

Samantala, inakusahan naman ni Deputy Speaker LRay Villafuerte si Velasco na “tamad” kaya nawala sa kanya ang pagkakataon na maging Speaker ng mababang kapulungan.’

“Velasco lost the speakership because of his failure to prove to his peers his capability to lead as speaker of the house.

He already lacked the gravitas, experience and skills compared to Speaker Alan from the start, what’s worse was he was an absentee congressman, he was always missing in action, and his peers called him “tamad,” ani Villafuerte.

Hindi umano tumulong si Velasco sa pagpapatibay ng mga panukalang batas tulad ng Anti-terror law, Bayanihan 1 at 2, imbestigasyon sa ABS-CBN franchise at hindi rin umano ito nag-perform bilang chairman ng House Energy committee.

“You cannot lead the house by being silent and “tamad” and a Spoiled brat that wants the Speakership to be handed to him instead of working for it.

He is pressuring Malacañang to order congressmen to make him Speaker because congressmen don’t believe he is competent,” ayon pa kay Villafuerte. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
