UMALMA ang mga senador sa deklarasyon ni Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Alfredo Garbin na nag-convene na sila bilang Constituent Assembly para sa pagdinig ng panukala para baguhin ang economic provision sa konstitusyon.

Ipinaalala nina Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III at Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri na sa kasalukuyan ay naka-break ang Kongreso.

“Congress is on a break, the only way a ConAss can be initiated and considered to sit as one, is if its done in plenary and session assembled. Eh Monday pa resumption. That’s a simple committee hearing they are conducting!” diin ni Sotto.

“With all due respect to my good friend Congressman Garbin, Congress is in recess so I’m not sure how there was plenary action on their resolution to form a constituent assembly. Our rules only allow committee hearings to take place during the break. So he maybe discussing approval on committee level,” paliwanag naman ni Zubiri.

Iginiit pa ni Sotto na kung nais ng mga mambabatas na busisiin ang konstitusyon, dapat tiyakin munang hindi magulo ang regulasyon.

“Gusto natin galawin Consti? Aba, siguraduhin natin ang rules and procedures natin ay hindi tabinge! Embarassing if ever!” tweet pa ni Sotto.

Ipinaalala naman ni Senador Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson na ang ConAss ay binubuo ng Kongreso na binubuo ng Senado at Kamara.

“Last time we heard, the Congress of the Philippines is composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives,” diin ni Lacson.

“Patawarin natin sila. Hindi nila alam ang ginagawa nila,” dagdag pa ng senador. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
