TINATAYANG mahigit P218 million halaga ng umano’y shabu na tangkang ipuslit papasok ng Pilipinas, ang nasabat ng mga tauhan ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency at Bureau of Customs sa isinagawang joint interdiction operation.

Ayon sa ulat, nakapaloob sa apat na machinery mufflers ang tinatayang 32 kilo ng white crystalline substance.

Batay sa ulat na isinumite sa tanggapan ni BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, nasabat ng BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) ang kontrabando sa Paircargo Warehouse sa Pasay City.

Unang idineklara na mga “machinery muffler” mula Zimbabwe ang kargamento kaya idinaan sa masusing profiling ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service at x-ray screening ng X-Ray Inspection Project saka idinaan sa K9-dog sniffing at physical examination, kung saan nadiskubre ang mga droga na nakapaloob sa mga tambutso.

Sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), at NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), nadakip ang consignee na kinilalang si Christine Donoga Tigranes, 28, dalaga, ng Balingasa, Quezon City, nahaharap sa kasong paglabas sa Customs Modernization and Tariff Act at Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Ayon kay NAIA District Collector, Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa, mas pinatindi nila ang kanilang border security operation, “This seizure represents the effective policies of the Bureau on border protection and underscores the effectiveness of the port’s customs officers,” ani Atty Mapa.

“We continue our drive to combat illegal drugs entering our country, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to prevent its proliferation to the detriment of our countrymen. This seizure showcases our intensified efforts and dedication,” dagdag pa ni Comm. Rubio.
