INIHAYAG kahapon ni House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez na dalawa pang panukala na prayoridad maisabatas ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at ng Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC), ang ihahabol na matapos ng Kamara de Representantes, bago ang sine die adjournment ngayong linggo, sanhi upang umabot ito sa kabuuang 33 bills.

Ayon kay Romualdez, ang mga naturang panukala ay kinabibilangan ng Philippine Salt Industry Development Act at Bureau of Immigration Modernization Act.

“We are doing our part in supporting the President’s socio-economic development agenda by passing these urgent proposed pieces of legislation that would sustain our economic growth and create more job and income opportunities for our people.

“We are inching toward accomplishing our goal of approving all of these priorities measures, thanks to the hard and tireless work of our colleagues,” saad pa ng lider ng Kamara.

Sa sandaling maaprubahan ng Kamara sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang mga nabanggit na panukala ay 33 na sa 42 na prayoridad ng LEDAC ang natapos ng Kamara, wala pang isang taon mula nang manungkulan si Speaker Romualdez.

Tatlo namang LEDAC priority ang aaprubahan sa ikalawang pagbasa.

Ito ang Natural Gas Industry Enabling Law, National Employment Action Plan, at Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System Bill.

Ayon kay Speaker Romualdez, layunin ng Philippine Salt Industry Development Act na buhayin ang naghihingalong industriya ng asin sa bansa at mabawasan ang pag-angkat nito.

“We have to help the industry and the thousands of Filipinos and their families who depend on it for their livelihood. Our country is surrounded by seas. We can produce a lot of salt for our consumption and even for export,” sabi pa ni Romualdez.

Iginiit ni Romualdez ang pangangailangan na tulungan ang mga mag-aasin sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay sa mga ito ng pagsasanay, makabagong teknolohiya at pondo para mapataas ang kanilang produksyon.

Nakapaloob sa panukala ang paglikha ng Philippine Salt Industry Development Council at ang paggawa ng Philippine salt industry roadmap.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, ang Department of Agriculture sa pamamagitan ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) ang mangangasiwa sa pagpapa-unlad ng lokal na pagawaan ng asin.
Aalisin na sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources ang trabaho na pangasiwaan ang produksyon ng asin at fishpond.

Target naman ng panukalang Bureau of Immigration Modernization Act na amyendahan ang 83-anyos na immigration law—ang Commonwealth Act No. 613 o ang Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.

“The bill aims to modernize and streamline our immigration system to encourage international tourism and foreign investments that would boost the economy,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez.

Ang modernisasyon ng BI ay naglalayon na makasunod ang bansa sa mga pagbabago at mas mapatibay ang pagbabantay laban sa cross-border crime gaya ng smuggling, illegal recruitment at human trafficking, ayon kay Speaker Romualdez.

Itataas din ng panukala ang sahod ng mga immigration personnel.
