KINALAMPAG ng isang senador ang Department of Education (DepEd) na pag-aralang mabuti na pansamantalang ipagbawal ang pagsusuot ng school uniform ng mga estudyante para maiwasan ang sakit na dengue.

Sa sulat na ipinadala ni Senador Nancy Binay DepEd Sec. Leonor Briones, nananawagan ito na payagang makapagsuot ng jogging pants o pantalon ang mga mag-aaral hangga’t hindi nakokontrol ang epekto ng dengue virus.

“I am respectfully requesting that your office study the possibility of allowing students to forgo the wearing of uniforms in school in favor of clothing like long sleeves, knee-high socks, and jogging/long pants that would add extra protection against insect bites,” nakasaad sa sulat ni Binay.

Una nang idineklara ng Department of Health (DOH) ang national dengue alert dahil sa mabilis na pagdami ng kaso ng dengue sa bansa.

Sa pinakahuling datos mula Enero 1 hanggang Agosto 31, nakapagtala mg 271,480 dengue cases, kabilang ang 1,107 nasawi dahil sa naturang sakit.

“It is only fitting that we explore all possible avenues to ensure that our children are protected from this health risk.This is but a small step we can do that could go a long way towards preventing our children from contracting the disease,” paliwanag pa ni Binay.
