KINASTIGO ni Senador Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa si PNP Chief, Police General Debold Sinas sa hindi pagdalo sa public hearing ng Senado sa mga kaso ng pagpatay.

Sinabi ni dela Rosa na mahalaga ang pagdinig ng Senate Committe on Justice and Human Rights upang maipaliwanag din ng pulisya ang kanilang mga aksyon.

“When I was PNP chief, I always attended Senate hearings and I bring my command group and all directorial staff because I know how important they are. Our credibility as an organization would be in question…we cannot ignore this because this concerns the performance of the Philippine National Police as a law enforcement agency,” diin ni Dela Rosa.

Sa gitna naman ng virtual hearing ay nagpakita si Sinas at sumagot sa mga katanungan ng mga senador.

Samantala, iginiit ni Senador Imee Marcos sa pagdinig na dapat palakasin ang relasyon sa pagitan ng PNP at Judiciary upang matiyak ang prosecution ng criminal cases.

“Year on year in August, we have national crime prevention week. What have the National Police Commission and the rest of the law enforcement community done to recommend effective crime management and crime prevention programs? It seems we don’t feel their presence. Perhaps the Senate would also be informed,” diin ni Marcos.

Iginiit naman ni Senador Joel Villanueva na nakaalarma na ang dami ng kaso ng mga pagpatay sa mga doktor, abogado, journalists at iba pang miyembro ng komunidad.

Sinabi ni Villanueva na dapat nang putulin ang culture of impunity subalit iginiit na hindi ito solong pananagutan ng pulisya.

“How are we upholding the rule of law and judicial process in tracking and preventing these crimes? How do we make everyone accountable?” diin ni Villanueva. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
