NAGBANTA si Secretary of National Defense Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. na tutugisin ng mga awtoridad ang hoarders at price manipulators na yumayaman sa pagpapahirap sa consumers lalo na ngayong nalalapit na ang pananalasa ang La Niña weather phenomenon sa Pilipinas.

Inihayag ni Defense Secretary Teodoro ang bantang crackdown sa ginanap na fifth meeting ng Presidential Task Force on El Niño, na tugon sa problemang idudulot ng La Niña.

Sa task force meeting na ginanap sa Camp Aguinaldo, sinabi ni Secretary Teodoro, nakahanda ang Department of National Defense (DND) na suportahan ang mga ahensya ng gobyernong na responsable sa pagbabantay ng presyo ng basic necessities at prime commodities.

Ayon pa sa kalihim na siya ring chairperson ng task force, ang pagsawata sa price manipulation at pagsupil sa hoarders ay kabilang sa mga prayoridad ng gobyerno.

“Access to affordable basic commodities such as rice is exceptionally crucial to millions of Filipino consumers. Any sudden fluctuation in the price of rice resonates in the daily lives of Filipinos,” sabi pa ni Secretary Teodoro.

“Whatever support is needed by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Agriculture, rest assured we are here ready to assist them,” banta pa ng kalihim

Inihayag pa ni Secretary Teodoro na kailangang palakasin ang isinasagawang price and supply monitoring efforts sa mga pamilihan para maproteksyunan ang consumers mula sa profiteers sa gitna ng nasabing weather phenomenon. (JESSE KABEL RUIZ)
