Pinangunahan ni Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship at Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion ang pagsisikap ng mga private sector upang makakuha ng 2.5 milyon hanggang 3 milyong doses ng COVID-19 vaccine mula sa British-Swedish pharmaceutical company na AstraZeneca sa pagsisikap na dagdagan ang magkahiwalay na procurement initiatives ng pamahalaan.
“We’re targeting 2.5 million to 3 million doses which will help 1.5 million people in the upper end of the range since the vaccine requires two doses. We want to ensure that the Philippines will not be left behind when the vaccines come out in 2021,” ani Concepcion, kung saan sinabi pa nito na ang deal ay tinatayang aabot sa halagang P600-700 milyon.
Ang mga pribadong sektor ay mga nakikipag-ugnayan kay vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez na nangunguna sa magkakahiwalay na talakayan na pinamunuan ng gobyerno sa pharma companies, kabilang ang AstraZeneca. Ang AstraZeneca ay may zero-profit na programa para sa 2021, na nangangahulugang ang mga bakuna ay mas mababa ang presyo.
Isang tripartite agreement ang pirmado ni PA Joey Concepcion, na kumakatawan sa pribadong sektor, Sec. Galvez, at Lotis Ramin, pangulo ng AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines Inc. sa pamamagitan ng Zoom conference.
Ipinaliwanag ni Concepcion na ang mga bakuna ay ibibigay sa Department of Health, na hahawak sa pag-deploy. Ang kalahati ng mga donasyon ay itatabi para sa mga frontliner ng gobyerno, habang ang iba pang 50% ay sasakupin ang mga empleyado sa pribadong sektor – sa mga regular at kontraktwal.
“Sec. Galvez called on the private sector to take care of its own flock provided that we follow the priority sectors of frontliners and the poorest of the poor,” aniya.
Idinagdag pa nito na ang Go Negosyo ay bibili ng 70,000 doses ng bakuna para sa mga MSME na sasaklaw sa 35,000 katao.
Ang bakuna mula sa AstraZeneca ay inaasahang nagkakahalaga ng humigit-kumulang P500 ($10) para sa dalawang doses, na mas mura kaysa sa regular testing methods.
