Camille Villar tackled the issues of dynasties head on during the administration’s campaign sortie in Metro Manila on Tuesday.
Smarting from criticisms, Villar said she is bringing with her 15 years of background as a public servant, along with her sterling performance as a corporate executive, as she runs for the Senate in the May 2025 polls.
Villar parried criticisms, saying she was inspired to serve the Filipino people through the guidance of her own parents, who have long been in the public service. As a young candidate, the 40-year old legislator expressed belief she can help understand the current problems now faced by the Millennials.
“Over the years, napakadami pong pagbabago, maraming challenges ang pinagdaanan natin. Dama ko yung mga suliranin ninyo,” she said.
As a mother of two, Villar said she also advocates for the welfare of mothers and the youth. “Bilang nanay, bilang millennial na bago lang nagtataguyod ng pamilya, alam ko yung pakiramdam nung uncertainty sa buhay,” Villar, daughter of former Senate President Manny Villar and Sen. Cynthia Villar. She also outlined her plans to pursue digitalization, especially now in the surgence of Artificial Intelligence around the globe.
Villar is also vowed to work on legislation that would provide opportunities to give homes to every Filipinos, healthcare and education. In a separate media interview, Villar also vowed to pursue legislation that would support job creation through infrastructure and tourism.
“Any sector that gives jobs, susuportahan natin. Nakikita natin na marami ng mga batas pero nakikita rin natin na times are changing so we need to incorporate innovation in the changes. (Danny Bacolod)
