BAGAMA’T idineklara ng House Committee on Justice na hindi sufficient in substance ang dalawang impeachment complaint laban kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., maaari pa umano itong mabaliktad sa pamamagitan ng boto ng isang-katlo o 106 na kongresista.

Dahil dito, umapela ang isa sa mga complainant sa ikalawang impeachment complaint na si dating Cong. Neri Colmenares sa mga mambabatas na isantabi ang kanilang political alliances at payagan ang impeachment trial laban sa Pangulo.

“We ask members of Congress to abandon this kind of interpretation, and allow ordinary citizens the opportunity to ask their public officials to account for the funds entrusted to them, and remove them from office if they fail or refuse to account to taxpayers,” ani Colmenares.

Inaasahang ilalabas sa Lunes, Pebrero 9, ang committee report ng komite na pinamumunuan ni Batangas Rep. Gervill Luistro, na nagrerekomenda ng pagbabasura sa impeachment complaints nina Atty. Andre de Jesus at ng grupong pinamumunuan ni dating cong. Liza Maza, kung saan kabilang si Colmenares.

Pagkatapos nito ay pagbobotohan sa plenaryo ang committee report. Ayon kay Luistro, kinakailangan ng boto ng isang-katlo ng lahat ng miyembro ng Kamara upang maibalik sa committee level ang reklamo at makabuo ng articles of impeachment.

“Kung idi-disapprove ito ng at least one-third of all the members of the plenary, that will amount to a reversal. Ibabalik ito sa Justice Committee, at mapipilitan kaming bumuo ng articles of impeachment,” ani Luistro.

Gayunman, duda si House Committee on Public Accounts Chairman at Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon na makakakuha ng sapat na boto ang kampo ng mga complainant.

“Tingin ko wala silang tsansang makakuha ng one-third vote. They might get some votes, but not one-third of all members. I think it will finish there,” ani Ridon.
