SUMAMA ang pinakamalaking alyansa ng mga organisasyon ng mga manggagawa sa sunud-sunod na biradang inihambalos ng iba’t ibang organisasyon ng mga journalist at dalawang senador, laban kay Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. makaraang akusahan nito ang isang reporter bilang “supporter” ng teroristang New People’s Army (NPA).

Sa pagkakataong ito ang pagbatikos ay mula sa sektor ng mga manggagawa, sa pamamagitan ng NAGKAISA Labor Coalition, kung saan sinabi ng tagapangulo nitong si Atty. Jose Sonny Matula, na ang akusasyon ni Parlade kay Tetch Torres-Tupas ng Inquirer.Net, ay “appears to reflect the quality of his thinking and leadership. He is unnecessarily creating hostility instead of creating friends or sympathizers to his cause”.

Dapat humingi ng tawad si Parlade kay Tupas sa inilabas nitong “careless statement” laban sa nasabing reporter, susog ni Matula.

Ang NAGKAISA ay binubuo ng mahigit 40 organisasyon ng mga manggagawa sa maraming bahagi ng bansa, kabilang ang Federation of Free Workers (FFW), na pinamumunuan ni Matula.

Si Parlade ay pinuno ng Southern Luzon Command (SolCom) ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at isa sa mga tagapagsalita ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

Kamakailan, isinalarawan ni Paralde na “propagandista” ng komunistang organisasyon ang nabanggit na reporter, dahil sa istorya nito tungkol sa paghahain sa Korte Suprema ng pagtutol ng dalawang Aeta na sina Japer Gurung at Junior Ramos sa Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 (ATA).

Ayon kina Gurung at Ramos, sila ay ilegal na inaresto at tinurtyur ng mga tauhan ng 73rd Division Reconnaissance Company (DRC) noong Agosto 2020 sa Zambales. Inakusahan sina Gurung at Ramos bilang mga miyembro ng NPA.

“Congratulations for a sloppy work Tetch Torres-Tupaz of Inquirer.net. You did not even bother to check the side of the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) and gov’t if what you are reporting is true or FAKE. Propagandista. No such thing happened. That unit is not even there but in Davao,” banat ni Parlade kay Tupas.

Isinusog din ni Parlade ang ganitong sagot niya sa tanong ng isang netizen hinggil sa istoryang isinulat ni Tupas hinggil sa ibinunyag nina Gurung at Ramos: “Aiding the terrorists by spreading lies? Puede”.

Pagkatapos nito ay sunud-sunod na binatikos si Parlade ng mga grupo ng National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP), Justice and Court Reporters Association (JUCRA), ng Inquirer.Net mismo, at nina Senador Panfilo Lacson at Senador Francis Pangilinan.

“We, the Justice and Court Reporters Association (JUCRA), strongly condemn the threat of Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. to sue one of our members, Inquirer.net’s Tetch Torres-Tupas, for allegedly providing support to terrorists. This is utterly unacceptable”.

Idiniin ni Matula na ang sinapit ni Tupas ay “stultifying and a grave threat to our press and freedom of expression”.

“An attack on freedom of expression also directly and indirectly undermines workers and trade union rights,” birada ni Matula. (NELSON S. BADILLA)
