WELCOME sa isang mambabatas sa mababang kapulungan ng Kongreso ang pag-apruba sa committee level ng House Bill 3460 o “An Act Institutionalizing the National Wetlands Conservation Policy o “National Wetlands Conservation Act”.
Sa pagdinig ng House committee on natural resources sa House Bill 3460 nitong Miyerkoles, ikinatuwa ni Anak Mindanao (AMIN) Party-list Rep. Amihilda Sangcopan ang pagbalangkas sa kahalagahan ng wetlands sa bansa.
“This bill seeks to advance and protect the right of the people to balanced and healthful ecology that is harmony with nature, it also aims to establish measures for the conversation and responsible use of the country’s wetlands and its resources aligned with the principle of sustainable development food security, biodiversity conservation and disaster risk reduction and management among others,” pahayag ni Rep. Sangcopan.
Binigyang-diin ng lady solon na ang polisiya sa nasabing House bill ay upang maprotektahan ang lahat ng uri ng wetlands kabilang na rito ang inland, coastal, marine, at maging ang man-made lake sa bansa.
“Once in effect, all government agencies, offices, and local government units (LGUs) shall integrate mainstream conservation and wise use of wetlands into their policies, rules and regulations, programs, projects and development planning processes. They shall also directly consult with the DENR and affected LGUs in the development and implementation of their plans, programs and projects having an impact on wetlands,” pagtatapos ni Rep.
