PINANINDIGAN ni Ombudsman Ombudsman Samuel Martires na hindi nito ilalabas ang Statement of Assets Liabilities and Networth (SALN) ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sukdulang maalis siya sa pwesto.

Sa pagdinig ng House committee on appropriation sa budget ng Department of Justice (DOJ) kung saan kasama ang P3,967 billion pondo ng Office of the Ombudsman sa susunod na taon, nanindigan si Martires na hindi niya ilalabas ang SALN ni Duterte hangga’t hindi nagbibigay ng go signal ang pangulo.

Sa interpelasyon ni Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Carlos Zarate, tinanong nito si Martires kung ano ang kanyang opinyon sa pahayag ng Palasyo ng Malacañang na ipinauubaya nito sa Office of the Ombudsman ang paglalabas ng SALN ng pangulo.

“There are conditions there on when we should release the SALN of a particular government official. In the absence of compliance with any of these provisions, we are not going to release the SALN,” tugon ni Martires kay Zarate.

Kabilang sa mga kondisyong ito aniya ay dapat may consent o pumayag ang government official na ilabas ang kanyang SALN, utos ng korte at kung hihingin ito ng mga field investigation office ng Office of the Ombudsman para sa kanilang imbestigasyon.

Sinabi ng Ombudsman na kahit matanggal ito sa kanyang puwesto ay hindi nito lalabagin ang sariling circular at wala umano itong pakialam sa mga kanyang mga kritiko at bashers.

“No matter how much criticism I will receive, even if I will be bashed, even if I will be removed from office, I will not butt in to that. I am sorry to say that. I am willing to be removed from office to defend the memorandum circular I issued,” ani Martires.

“Pinagtataka ko naman po, bakit napaka-interesado natin sa SALN ng presidente at bise presidente? Bakit hindi tayo interesado sa SALN ng ibang opisyal ng gobyerno? I really do not know what is the purpose of these people asking for the SALN of the president, specifically, and the vice president,” dagdag pa ni Martires. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
