NASA full force na ang Bureau of Immigration (BI) operations sa mga airport bilang paghahanda ng bansa sa unang buwan ng implementasyon ng kanilang eased border restrictions.
Ayon kay BI Port Operations Division chief. Atty. Carlos Capulong, ipinatutupad na nila ang 100% on-site work capacity at sinimulan na ang kanilang pre-pandemic shifting schedule dahil inaasahan nilang dadagsa ang mga pasahero sa susunod na mga linggo.
“From around 8,000 daily passengers on the first week of implementation of our opened borders, we are now seeing more than 9,000 daily passengers,” ani Capulong. “We are expecting this gradual increase as we transition to the new normal,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi pa ni Capulong, inaasahan ang pagtaas ng bilang sa 10,000 hanggang 15,000 sa susunod na mga buwan.
Samantala, sinabi ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, ipinag-utos niya ang border operations bilang paghahanda sa pagtaas ng bilang ng mga biyahero.
“We expect the number of travelers to further increase as the summer season approaches. This is a step towards the much-needed recovery of the tourism sector,” pahayag ni Morente. (JOEL O. AMONGO)
