KINUMPIRMA ng Commission on Appointments (CA) ang ad interim appointments ng 17 general at flag officers ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Bago lumusot sa CA plenary ay sumalang muna ang mga opisyal sa confirmation hearing ng makapangyarihang CA Committee on National Defense na pinamumunuan ni Representative Luis Jon Jon Ferrer IV.

Ang 17 senior officers na kinumpirma ay kinabibilangan nina:
Adonis Ariel G. Orio to the rank of Brigadier General
Wilbur C. Mamawag to the rank of Major General
Alberto B. Carlos to the rank of Vice Admiral
William N. Gonzales to the rank of Lieutenant General
Rommel Anthony SD. Reyes to the rank of Vice Admiral
Glenn Jun C. Calambuhay to the rank of Brigadier General
Fermin M. Carangan to the rank of Brigadier General
Araus Robert F. Musico to the rank of Major General
Ignatius N. Patrimonio to the rank of Major General
Charlton Sean M. Gaerlan to the rank of Major General
Renato P. David to the rank of Rear Admiral
Jonas R. Lumawag to the rank of Major General

Sa confirmation hearing ay inusisa ni Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson ang sentimyento ng ilang AFP officers sa bagong batas na Republic Act 11709 na nagtatakda ng fixed term sa chief of staff at iba pang matataas na posisyon sa AFP.

Dito nalantad na may mga agam-agam at sentimyento ang ilang junior officer sa nasabing batas bunsod ng posibleng epekto ng pinahabang term of office ng Senior Generals na may hawak ng top key position sa AFP sa pangunguna ng Chief of Staff, major service commanders at unified commanders.

Una nang lumutang ang isyu na marami sa junior officers ang matetengga ang promotion dahil sa nasabing batas at sinasabing malilimitahan ang bilang ng mga heneral, bukod pa sa pagpapalawig ng termino at retiring age.

Inamin naman ni AFP Deputy Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Rommel Reyes na mayroong sektor sa officer at enlisted personnel corps na maapektuhan ng batas pero sinisikap na aniya ng AFP at Department of National Defense na klaruhin ang malalabong section ng batas sa binabalangkas na Implementing Rules and Regulations.
