Naging mainit ang pagtanggap ng mga empleyado ng Department of Tourism sa papasok na hepe nito na si Christina Garcia-Frasco noong Hunyo 27, 2022.

Sa pagtungo ni Garcia-Frasco sa DOT Central Office sa Makati, nakaharap din ng kalihim sa unang pagkakataon dito ang regional directors ng kagawaran.

Nagkaroon din ng maiksing press conference kung saan naging direkta rin siya sa kanyang mga plano kabilang dito ang pagpapatuloy ng mga nasimulan at maiiwan na magagandang proyekto ng kasalukuyang kalihim.

Gayundin, dahil sa matalas at epektibong karanasan sa lokal na pamahalaan nais ni Garcia-Frasco na dalhin ito para manumbalik ang sigla ng turismo sa bansa.

“I look forward to examining all of the plans and programs that have already been established, as well as proposing new additions and innovations to the successful programs, all with a cohesive vision of not only restoring the Philippines to its position on the international stage, but also elevating our country to its full potential to occupy a primary position globally, which is the birthright of every Filipino” anang 41 taong gulang na abogado.

Matapang din ang naging pahayag ng magiging bagong kalihim sa puna ng journalist na si Raissa Robles na hindi pa handa ang Mindanao para sa turismo dahil malulugod sa maraming opsyon ang mga terorista at kidnaper dito.

“The Mindanao region has some of the most beautiful destinations that our country has. Sadly, because of the challenges in peace and order that’s not of the people of the Mindanao’s own doing but of certain elements of our society whose nefarious intentions have gotten in the way of the full development of this region,” ani Garcia-Frasco.

“Perhaps this has resulted in very skewed views by certain quarters, including a certain journalist, on the wisdom of developing tourism in Mindanao,” patuloy pa niya.

“But I’ve never been one to back off from a challenge, and rather, I take her criticism as an opportunity to work with the people of Mindanao to prove to the world that they are fully deserving of the attention that they have so needed and deserve. And we will do that,” diin pa niya. “So, I look forward to the day for her to change her tune, not by my words, but by my actions. I intend to be judged not by my words but by my work. And we will work hard to help Mindanao rise to its full potential,” pagtatapos ni Garcia-Frasco.

Si Garcia-Frasco na may tunay na pangalang Maria Esperanza Christina Garcia Codilia Frasco ay anak ng incumbent governor na si Gwendolyn Garcia at asawa ng Cebu 5th District Representative na si Duke Frasco.
