IPINAG-UTOS ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa Department of Energy (DOE) at sa lahat ng iba pang concerned agencies na madaliin ang implementasyon ng action plans at strategies na i-develop ang electric vehicle (EV) industry sa Pilipinas partikular na sa public transportation sector.

Sinasabing malayo pa rin ang Pilipinas sa target nito na 2.45 milyon EVs at tinatayang 65,000 EV charging stations (EVCS) sa 2028.

Sa idinaos na sectoral meeting hinggil sa updates ng EV industry development, araw ng Martes, sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos na ang DOE at iba pang ahensya ay dapat na nakatuon sa paghahanap ng paraan para mapababa ang “cost of production, financing ng charging infrastructure upang masiguro ang tuloy-tuloy na EV industry.

“It’s the cost of production. Let’s focus on that for now – cost of production and financing. I think, that’s it. Cost of production and financing and the charging infrastructure,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos sa DOE.

Winika ng Pangulo na pinag-aaralan ng gobyerno ang proseso ng paglipat sa EV na magagawa lamang sa pagsunod sa EV Industry Development Act (EVIDA) para pabilisin ang development at utilization ng EVs tungo sa pagsasaayos ng energy security at ang pagbabawas sa greenhouse gas emissions.

Sa ilalim ng Comprehensive Roadmap for the EV Industry (CREVI), ang estratehiya at action plans para makamit ang target ay kinabibilangan ng “demand generation, policy development, manufacturing development, human resource development, at research and development.”
