KINUMPIRMA ni Senate Finance Committee Chairman Sonny Angara na pasok sa General Appropriations Act 2021 ang dagdag na pondo para sa Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) upang mas maraming batang may sakit ang matulungan.

Ayon kay Angara, dinagdagan ng halos P900 milyon ang pondo ng PCMC para sa pagbili ng iba’t ibang hospital equipment, gayundin sa konstruksyon ng pediatric rehabilitation center at tulong sa indigent patients.

“The PCMC plays a very important role in providing high quality medical care to Filipino children. We want to ensure that PCMC will be able to continue its mandate and serve even more patients, especially during these very challenging times,” saad ni Angara.

Umaasa si Angara na sa dagdag pondong ito ay matutulungan ang mga batang may cancer upang mailibre ang kanilang chemotherapy sa buong taon.

Mas marami na ring batang may problema sa puso ang maaaring maoperahan sa PCMC.

“Children who require heart surgeries are brought to the specialty hospitals, including the Heart Center. They would typically have to be put on queue because of the sheer number of patients who need to be operated on. The PCMC has the capability of performing these heart surgeries on the children who need it right away and shorten the waiting time for a lot of patients. This could mean life or death for many children,” paliwanag ng senador.

Sa konstruksyon ng pediatric rehabilitation center sa PCMC, positibo si Angara na mas magandang serbisyo ang maidudulot nito sa mas marami pang batang pasyente.
Ang Pediatric rehabilitation ay isa sa primary services ng PCMC at saklaw nito ang neurologic disorders, spinal cord injuries, at musculoskeletal conditions na nakakaapekto sa paglaki ng bata. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
