KINASTIGO ni Senador Cynthia Villar ang pamunuan ng Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) na nagmanipula sa kakulangan ng suplay ng asukal upang paboran ang importasyon dahil mas malaki ang inangkat kaysa kakapusan.

Sa ginanap na pagdinig ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, sinabi ni Villar, chairman ng Senate committee on agriculture na kung ipinatupad ng SRA ang RA 10659 o ang Sugar Industry Development Act of 2015, hindi magkakaroon ng kakulangan ng suplay.

Base sa manipestasyon ni Villar, hindi masyadong maintindihan ang report ng SRA sa imbentaryo kumpara sa kakulangan kaya’t malaki ang paniniwala nitong manipulado ang sitwasyon upang payagan ang importasyon.

“In addition, the report of inventory and shortage from SRA is very difficult to understand, so I think it is been manipulated to allow importation,” aniya.

Umaasa si Villar na mareresolba ang pagkontrol sa imbentaryo upang makontrol din ang importasyon na lubhang nagpapahirap sa magsasaka.

“We should be able after this hearing to fix how we will do the inventory control of sugar so we will be able to control the importation of sugar, because based on what they have submitted to us the shortage in raw sugar is only 20,000 metric tons and we have imported 200,000 metric tons before so why is there is a shortage of sugar,” tanong ni Villar.

“Yun lang po and I move that this knowledge will help us solve our problem,” giit pa ng senador.

Kinuwestiyon din ni Villar ang SRA sa mahusay na diskarte nito sa importasyon pero bigo ang ahensiya sa pagpapatupad ng Sugar Industry Development Act of 2015 kaya’t hindi nagagamit ang Agriculture Competitiveness Enhancement Fund upang tulungan ang sugar farmers.

“I want to report on the Sugar Industry Development Fund or Law which the implementation should prevented this problem. I want to inform the people that we passed the RA 10659 or the Sugar Industry Development Act of 2015. An act promoting and supporting the competitiveness of sugar industry and for other purpose,” paliwanag niya.

Ipinaliwanag pa ni Villar na layunin ng batas na paunlarin ang competitiveness n g sugar industry upang makapag-ani ng tubo sa mababang halaga na pinagtibay noon pang Abril 15, 2015. (ESTONG REYES)
